Hondo had an interest in anime from a young age, in particular the [Naruto](https://anilist.co/anime/20/) series. She became interested in acting and modelling while in elementary school. She made her voice acting debut in 2015, and later that same year, she was cast in her first main role as [Kokoro Yotsuba](https://anilist.co/character/134716/), the protagonist of the anime series [Kamisama Minarai: Himitsu no Cocotama](https://anilist.co/anime/21237/).

She won Best New Actress at the 13th Seiyuu Awards for her role as [Hitomi Mishima](https://anilist.co/character/89230/).
